One great film missing and requires urgent watching is LA Confidential. An excellent film noir thriller!

Re: Films of the 1990s

Lots of good stuff in the 90s. My favorites from the list above would be The Usual Suspects, Silence of the Lambs, and American Beauty. Four Weddings and a Funeral almost makes it into the finals for this scene alone:

Unfortunately it lost too many points for the presence of Hugh Grant's hair.

Re: Films of the 1990s

I know this is thread drift, and I apologize, but seeing The Titanic on the list above made me think....

When I walked out of the theater, having just seen "Avatar" in 2-D, I was thinking that it was not only a spectacular visual achievement but pretty damned good story-telling as well, and I told myself I'd go back and see it again, in 3-D, before it left the theaters.

I haven't.

In fact, there has always been something much more compelling that has kept me from returning to the theater for the full Avatar experience. Like, you know, laundry and stuff.

Just eye candy, I guess.

Re: Films of the 1990s

I see James Cameron is doing a 3d remake of Titanic that he plans to release in 2012 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the sinking...wasn't excited about the first one, not particularly excited about the re-release.

A couple of more films to add to the list (in no particular order):

Il Postino
Meditteraneo
La Haine
The Fifth Element
Ghost in the Shell
The Big Lebowski
Office Space
The Crow
